Lars Dabney - Directory

I’m a former journalist-turned-humanitarian-attorney, and prior to starting Lightning Fruit (a web development company based here in DC), I worked almost exclusively for non-profits and government entities. I started developing websites freelance in college to make some spending money, and stayed on top of it as a hobby over my years of trying to save the world. Meanwhile, my journalism & law career led me to an area of work (field investigations & systems analysis in anti- human trafficking) where it became apparent that I couldn’t pull off the scale of change I wanted to, if I stayed in the trenches. I had to acquire the kind of wherewithal (let’s be straight: money & power) that would allow me to change things at the highest level, if I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life being frustrated. So I dusted off my coding skills and dove into bootstrapping a tech company, and three years later it’s growing strong; and soon enough I hope to be able to use what I’ve built to set about trying to save the world again.
