I spent the first 20 years of my life at Kripalu Center, a not for profit yoga center in Massachusetts. I was basically a renunciate most of that time, receiving an allowance but no income. Re-emerging into the working world in 1996 was very challenging with two young children. Work got as hard as delivering newspapers for awhile; but over time with love and support from friends and family, I was able to start an organic mattress company which has been flourishing for the past 10 years. Several years ago I turned the organization over to a wonderful, smart, young CEO who has been doing a great job.

I am now mostly retired, working in the business about 10 hours/week. I spend the rest of my time working our Airbnb, doing landscaping, and playing piano. On the business end I’m very happy to have started an ESOP that is also a BCorps, as well as some other cool, inclusive projects like doing an in depth interview with one employee owner a month, and having suggested what turned into the Savvy Rest Women’s Council. My wife Heather and I host silent meditation retreats with a teacher from Eugene a couple times a year.
