Brian Hill
Founder & CEO MāKā SuperfoodBiography
Brian brings over a decade of startup executive experience to the table. Prior to launching MāKā, Brian oversaw the ideation, creation, launch, and operation of three distinct and disparate companies; athletics, mobile app, and facility automation technology.
His first foray into the startup world was with Eastbanc Inc. Brian was originally hired as a real estate development project manager in Washington, DC. The mixed-use project was a public-private-partnership with the City which comprised of the reconstruction of an existing firehouse, with 60+ affordable housing units buffered by a two-story athletic facility in-between the two uses. Initially tasked with project managing the construction & build-out of the athletic facility, Brian’s role expanded into including ideating and launching a business that would ultimately occupy the finished space. The new business was called “Squash On Fire” and is still in operation to this day. The company was a first of its kind in DC as the only public 8-court squash facility in the region. Brian generated over $1,000,000 in revenue in the company’s first year of operations, traveled to and partnered with international squash coaches & teams, and hired & managed 25+ employees.
Preceding the startup world Brian was in commercial real estate brokerage and development project management. Brokerage sparked his entrepreneurial flame since he was consistently surrounded by entrepreneurs and restauranteurs, assisting with the acquisition of the physical space that would help them achieve their business dreams. Brian obtained a master of real estate development from Georgetown University and a dual-concentration undergraduate degree in finance and entrepreneurship from Boston University.
