Jennifer Hong

Jennifer Hong is a human trafficking (forced labour and sexual exploitation)expert at the U.S. Department of State, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. Her office is responsible for the U.S. government diplomatic and domestic TIP efforts, which include the annual Trafficking in Persons Report publication and President’s Interagency Task Force on TIP. The annual Trafficking in-person report has been hailed as the “gold-standard” of trafficking by governments, media, and civil society. She travels to 19 countries to work with foreign governments and civil society to further anti-trafficking efforts in those countries. Prior to joining the federal service, Jennifer has conducted research on trafficking in East Asian countries and provided trafficking victims assistance as a shelter counsellor. With her expertise in human trafficking, she recognizes impunities of forced labour in supply chains, and with her experience of working with foreign governments and civil society groups, she can adeptly steer companies to establishing a sustainable and profitable business model with the clean supply chain. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Master in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Gerald R Ford School of Public Policy. She is a Presidential Management Fellow, Public Policy International Affairs Fellow, and New Leaders Council, fellow.
