I’m a serial entrepreneur. In 2006 my wife and I started Printfresh Studio, a textile design business creating artwork for the apparel industry (the artwork that goes on dresses – but you didn’t know there’s a whole bunch of companies doing just that :). That business was pretty successful and eventually grew to just under $3M/yr in revenue. It also allowed me to start a real estate portfolio to create cool offices for our team as well as others. I currently have 160k sq ft of micro-offices in Philadelphia (55k of which is under development) – Paper Box Studios and Jasper Studios. In 2017 we launched two additional businesses, Printfresh & Voloshin. Voloshin is women’s apparel and did pretty well for a few years but we started it as a wholesale business and then slowly moved online Covid tanked it and we are going to take a break from it for a few years. Printfresh (kind of Printfresh 2.0 – Printfresh Studio being 1.0) started out as journals and notebooks because Amy (my wife) could never find one to her liking. We grew in wholesale to a network of 300 stores around the country including a few national chains. In 2019 we introduced Pajamas for the first time in the fall and they were pretty successful out of the gate. In 2020 we re-focused the brand to be all pajamas and mostly online (as the mom and pop boutiques cancelled all of their Q1 orders) and we leaned into online advertising. We are currently aiming at $5M for 2020 (a 10x increase from last year) and I’m just trying play catch-up with the growth of the business (securing the supply chain, distribution and technology stack). Our core focus is whimsical prints, inclusivity and sustainability. We just introduced plus size, we are the only woven pajama brand I’m aware of that goes up to a 4x (size 30) and we are moving to 100% GOTS certified organic cotton for 2021.
