After 12 years in corporate sales leadership I was laid off and started my own business shortly thereafter. Jerry’s Kitchen, a modern-American food truck rolled onto the streets of Philadelphia in August of 2014 serving breakfast and lunch on the corner of 33rd and Arch Streets in University City. The truck would also regularly serve at local festivals and street fairs. After two years of cash-only (at risk) sales I realized that this was not smart growth strategy and focused my attention on pre-paid catering with our truck. In 2018 100% of our revenue came from pre-paid corporate and private catering events with our truck. In addition, I expanded our business and began brokering for other trucks. Jerry’s Kitchen is growing and profitable. I started and grew the business myself and as much as I love being a “solo” guy, I miss (frankly need) the input and motivation of peers and subject matter experts to truly achieve my goal of total world domination.
