Whitney Brimfield is the CEO of Spark Point Fundraising (www.spark-point.com), a full-service development firm with a commitment to equity and impact. Spark Point is the resource that nonprofits are hungry for – a whip smart, creative, and entrepreneurial thought partner that guides clients to a tailored, forward-looking strategy for achieving your desired growth and leverages decades of fundraising experience to ensure that your plan is properly implemented. Services include outsourced grant writing and foundation relations services as well as strategic counsel and coaching.
Whitney has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, business development, and social enterprise at the local, state, and national level. She has raised millions of dollars for numerous causes. Some highlights include: international organizations (Jitegemee, the Global Brightlight Foundation, the Batonga Foundation, and Goodweave), national policy and advocacy organizations (Americans United for Separation of Church and State, the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, BoardSource, and Faith in Public Life), arts and humanities organizations (the National Building Museum, Life Pieces to Masterpieces, and FotoDC), and large DC-based nonprofits (Bread for the City, the Humane Rescue Alliance, and Byte Back).
She specializes in helping organizations move their fundraising efforts to a new level, whether that means adding a new revenue stream, improving systems, developing a winning grant proposal, or creating a completely new fundraising strategy. She is skilled at designing highly successful development strategies, coaching Boards of Directors and executive leadership to overcome fundraising fears, writing winning grant proposals, engaging corporate donors, and building individual donor programs. She brings a marketing eye to resource development, always thinking about how an organization’s communications and messaging must dovetail with its investor outreach.
She is an active volunteer and sought-after board member. She currently serves on the board of the DC Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Her past board appointments include the Washington Improv Theater, the NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland Education Fund and the Women’s Information Network. She holds a Master of Health Science from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelors from Haverford College.
